“Our family has been attending classes at FACE for about 5 years and I still love what they have to offer from high school down to elementary. Everyone is very supportive and I would like to contribute what I can and hope to be a blessing to others like the FACE family has been to us.”
BOOK CLUB FOR YOUNG READERS
Class Description:
A good book can introduce the world to young readers and you can learn so much from the pages of a book even when it’s fiction. But too often many children think of reading as boring. In this class I hope to encourage a love for reading that will continue all their life.
Whether your child already loves to read or you would like them to read more, in this class there will be more fun than work. We will be reading classics that we all grew up with and discussing them in class but also doing activities and projects to go along with the story. They may learn a little bit about history or friendship, the prairie or life on a farm, but most of all…that you can have fun learning through reading.
Approximate hours of homework per week:
It varies, they will have to read quite a few chapters at home per week.
Prerequisites for this class:
This class is generally for 4th – 6th grade reading level, but some 3rd graders read very well so they are welcome too. Some books will be easier than others.
Class is appropriate for grades:4th – 6th , will welcome 3rd grade.
Materials to be supplied by the student:
Students will need to get the book we are reading either from the library (recommended), or a store. Used book stores are a good place to look. I will let students know which book will be needed in advance.

The student will spend time using library books, encyclopedias, Internet resources, and other research material. Not only will this state history project enhance the student’s understanding of his state heritage, but they will learn how to write a research paper while developing a deeper appreciation for his home state. They can use maps, pictures and drawings, newspaper articles, etc. to enhance their paper and some classes we will focus on fun facts about our state. Participation in the Share Fair in encouraged but not required. Research outline and requirements will be given upon request prior to enrollment and on the first day of class.
