Introducing Monique Green:

Monique has been with FACE for 13 years and has graduated 2 of her 4 children. She has a very healthy lifestyle and also teaches our Pilates class.monique

God just placed it on my heart to teach our youth about good habits towards our health.  “In the past I have observed youth making poor choices in their eating habits in order to lose weight.  Our youth are faced with the media’s definition of how they should look and weigh.” Some are at a healthy weight now and some do need to lose weight.  It is important to learn what is a healthy body weight and healthy ways to stay at that weight. I am thrilled with the potential of the class.  It will teach why nutrition and physical fitness is so important to our body now and in the future.  I could go on and on.  I also would like to offer the option of doing the Bolder Boulder together at the end of the year. We will set up a schedule for training throughout the school year and do the race together on Memorial Weekend.

Class Description:   We will be using the textbook, Total Health:   Choices for a winning Lifestyle, 2005.     Written by high school health specialist and Christian educator, Susan Boe, the Total Health curriculum is Biblically based and scientifically sound.   Designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of all important health issues including physical, spiritual, mental, and social, it directs them toward making wise choices.

3/05 Total Health was chosen by homeschool expert and author Cathy Duffy as one of her “100 Top Picks for Homeschool Curriculum” in the miscellaneous category.

In class, we will have tests, homework assignments, class discussions, and various activities.   I will also add the option to include a Physical Fitness credit too.   If your child is  involved in a sport they can include their hours of practice and games toward their Physical Fitness credit.

Approximate hours of homework per week:   2-8 hours a week, this depends of if the student chooses to do the Physical Fitness Credit.

Prerequisites for this class: None

Class is appropriate for grades:   8th and up The textbook is High School but is very easy reading.
